This review is mainly for our waitress. Her name is Melanie. We've actually never had a waitress, anywhere, be as good as she was & we've had many good ones. Very attentive, extremely nice, & generally happy to serve you. .....The food was average to good..... Wish we could take Melanie to every restaurant we go to to wait on us!
This place is wonderful. Fresh food laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. We plan to make it a tradition on our family trip to Starved Rock.
Amazing. I had the meatloaf special. Honestly the meatloaf was kind of bland, but the entire bite was amazing. It took a little while to figure out if it was the gravy or the crisp onion strings that gave it the wonderful flavor. I finally settled on the gravy. Fresh house made mashed potatoes. And proton size is not for the faint of heart. But I did manage to fit in a piece of the pumpkin cheesecake. It was great. The only thing I had an issue with was the dollop of whipped creamthat did not age well. It tasted a bit old. But it came off easy, and that solved anything I could complain about.
Went for dinner. We are new to town and was told this was a good spot to eat. Hubby's walleye fish dinner he said was good. My bacon cheeseburger had no flavor. It wasn't bad but if you just needed food in your belly and didn't need to have flavor it would hit the spot. The fried chicken looked good and so did the nachos and pot pie. I wouldn't write this off as a bad place to eat but I would not bother to spend the $10 for a burger. I would try something else next time and give it a second chance.
Good food, excellent service and cozy antique decor at an affordable price. It is a great family place and truck stop. The on-site bakery serves up 1st rate world class bakery goods - rare to find that combination but 'R-Place Family Eatery Truck Stop Bakery' is all that... and it's Our Place too!
